1965 - 68 Apprentice Motor Mechanic

A S Ward, Transport Contractors, Hockley

1968 – 73 Able Seaman – Gunnery Branch

  • Royal Navy (4 out of 5 years spent on sea-going ships.

    1973 – 91 Long Distance Lorry Driver

    All work transport related, working with mini-vans to 38 ton vehicles

    With loads of all types.

    Spent 4 years as an elected Shop Steward.

  • Experience gained in the training of new drivers, instructors and advanced drivers.

    Between 1985 – 86 worked as an Owner Driver gaining more experience of transport management.

  • Development of own business ‘Wheelcraft’ concentrating on all aspects of driver education specialising in LGV/PCV and ADR work in the UK and Eastern Block Countries.

    Interests (both work and non-work)lie with cars, trucks and motorcycles, both in their technical development and with the design and implementation of relevant consultancy/training programmes.
